"Moving Forward By Faith" Exodus 14:1-16

In a world filled with so many distractions and so much evil working against the church, it is so easy for believers to find themselves in a state of stagnancy or going backwards. The apostle Paul had to ask this question of the church in Galatia; Galatians 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? It is the plan of our adversary the devil to use various means and methods to disrupt God's plan for our lives. God’s will is that we move forward by faith. That is to keep on believing that he called us from darkness into His marvelous light. God has a plan to bring us into the “expected end” that we are all greatly anticipating. So we are always to be looking to Jesus Christ with confidence that no matter what is in our present experience, God will deliver us. Jesus is the way and if we follow him we will find this to be true; "that if God brings you to it, he will take you through it." It does not matter what your "it" is.

We learn from our theme scripture how God used Moses to lead Israel out of Egypt up to the shores of the Red Sea where there was no visible evidence of a way of escape from the Egyptians who were in pursuit. There were mountains on either side and the Red sea before them, but God gave them a word; Exodus 14:15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? Speak unto the children of Israel that they go forward. We know this wonderful story how God miraculously parted the Red sea and made a way out of no way to deliver His people and used the Red Sea to destroy their enemies. He is the same God who is taking us through the perils and hardships that we face to the destiny He has planned for us.

We believe this is a word from the Lord to His church in this time; "move forward by faith". We endeavor to do this at True Holiness by God's grace, standing on His promise that He will never leave us, neither will He forsake us. This word is given to challenge us, encourage us, examine us, reproof and rebuke us. The saints must move forward by faith. We are assured of this because it is God's will for us that we move forward. Time and time again in the bible God's words speak against stagnancy and backsliding, and in our day the church still have these experiences that we know are not the will of God for us.

The Christian education department endeavors to fulfill God's mandate for us by studying all aspects of this topic. The word of God is our weapon; it is the sword of the Spirit and through prayers, fasting and with humility of spirit will lead the church in studying this theme by looking at subtopics such as:

  • ·         How to keep moving forward by faith from the word of God
  • ·         Study and apply faith without which it is impossible to please God
  • ·         Things that are harmful and meant to stop us "the enemies devices"
  • ·         Things about our flesh that prevents us from moving forward
  • ·         Things in the world that distracts us and are harmful to our progress
  • ·         The promises of God to us; "God’s promises gives us hope and we are saved by hope"
  • ·         The ultimate goal of the believer; "the expected end" our eternal destiny

Our goal is to edify and fortify every believer we minister to in establishing our faith towards God. When our faith is in the finished work of Jesus Christ for our salvation, and knowing that He is able to do exceeding abundantly above what we can ask or think according to His power working in us, then nothing can stop us from moving forward by faith. We anticipate a year of victory from the Lord our God, Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever.
